Run for Peru

Florence Usher one of our young parishioners has committed herself to run in aid of our Peruvian Project. She has shown love and affinity to this Parish project and made a visit to Fr Alex to see first-hand the progress being made on this mission field. She will briefly make an appeal after each Mass this weekend seeking sponsorship. I am sure you will give her your support.

To make a donation, click here to download the sponsorship form, print this off and hand to Fr. Pat, alternatively if you don't have access to a printer you can just write on a piece of paper your name, telephone number and the amount you want to donate. You can include the money or it can be donated at a later date.

Please read the appeal from Florence below:

My name is Florence Usher. I grew up in Dartford, Knights Manor Estate, in the community of St Vincent's Parish Church. When I was a young teenager, I ran the London Mini Marathon (about 3 miles) and raised money for the Peruvian Project, around the time the project had just begun.

In my mid twenties, I spend a couple of years overseas, some of this time was spent travelling around South America. I just had to visit Peru and the community I had raised money for all those years ago. This experience provoked so many emotions and completely changed my outlook on life. Spending time with Father Alex, with the locals, listening to stories, seeing the hard work, effort and unconditional love the community provides for each other was truly inspiring. From that time, I promised myself that one day I would run the full Marathon, to raise more money for this community I felt strongly connected with.

So, here I am, 31 years old, about to embark on a 26.2 mile marathon with the hope of raising more awareness and money for the community of Alto Cayma, Arequipa, Peru.

Our world is home to almost seven billion people - each one an individual and each exposed to different life experiences. There are complex global issues and challenges facing our world today. The people of Peru are some of the poorest in the world and this community has suffered devastating floods recently. Please look into your hearts and in some small way show your love for your fellow human beings by donating to help them.

I would be so grateful if you could donate whatever you can to this extraordinary cause.

Thank you.

Florence Usher
